Professor Anil Kalhan Presents on Emergency Powers in South Asia at University of Wisconsin
October 24, 2011 — The 40th Annual Conference on South Asia at the University of Wisconsin featured three presentations by Professor Anil Kalhan.
On Oct. 20, Kalhan presented “Colonial Continuities and Emergency Powers in Pakistan and India” as part of the 5th Annual South Asian Legal Studies Preconference Workshop. Kalhan organized the panel with Villanova University historian Elizabeth Kolsky.
On Oct. 21, Kalhan presented “India’s Post-2008 Antiterrorism Laws” as part of a panel entitled “Routine Exceptions: Rethinking Emergency Powers in South Asia.”
On Oct. 23, Kalhan served on a panel entitled “From the Dominion to the Republic: Rethinking India’s Founding and Its Founders.”
Kalhan’s principal interests include comparative and U.S. constitutional law, immigration law, international human rights law and criminal law.
