Students Break Bread with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter
November 19, 2010 —
Four students discussed a variety of legal and civic matters with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter during a catered lunch at the law school on Nov. 12.
Omar Graham, Luckey Helms, Timothy Howett and Thomas Rzucidlo, all 3Ls, discussed the city's Digital Philadelphia initiative, “stop and frisk” searches by police and the importance of both the law school and Drexel University to the growth of the city during the conversation with the mayor.
"I've had an interest in government for quite awhile, so it was an amazing opportunity for me," said Helms. "How often do you get to lunch with a mayor
of a major city?"
The students had successfully bid for the opportunity to meet Nutter at the law school's annual Public Interest Experience Slice of Justice Auction in March, which raised $20,000 to support summer internships with public service organizations.
