If you have an exam conflict (two or more exams on the same calendar day, or other exigent circumstances), please submit an Exam/Conflict Deferral form to OSA no later than Friday, November 19. Also, please note that due to the new software, the requirement to be eligible for technical assistance this term is to both attend a workshop AND submit a practice exam by 5:00 p.m. on December 1. • Student Bills
Students are reminded to check their eBills. The link to the eBill is sent to a student's official Drexel email account each month and is available on their Drexel One accounts. Payment can be made in person at the Cashier's Office in the Main Building, mailed, or through your Drexel One account using either Master Card, Discover, American Express, or electronic check via web ACH.

Events on Campus and Around Town

Speaker Event: "Legal Translation and the Politics of Reform: The Case of School Finance Litigation

Speaker: Michael Paris, J.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Politics, Department of Political Science, Economics, and Philosophy, College of Staten Island, City University of New York

Date & Time: Monday, November 8. Talk at 4:15 p.m., followed by a reception from 5:30-6:00 p.m.
Location: Room 140
Note: This is a public lecture open to the community. No RSVP required.

Professor Paris's talk will draw on his recently published book, Framing Equal Opportunity: Law and the Politics of School Finance Reform (Stanford University Press, 2010). In the struggle to ensure that schools receive their fair share of financial and educational resources, reformers translate policy goals into legal claims in a number of different ways. Paris's work uncovers the options reformers have in framing legal challenges and how the choices they make affect politics and policy beyond the courtroom. Focusing on two of the most controversial and far-reaching court decisions in the nation in school finance and education reform, Framing Equal Opportunity follows lawyers and activists in New Jersey and Kentucky as they negotiate the complicated political terrain of educational change in their respective states. Paris emphasizes the importance of legal translation—the process through which reformers transform their visions and goals into plausible legal claims. As it reveals, the kinds of arguments lawyers choose to make matter not only to their success in the courtroom, but also to the nature of the political fights they face in the community at large.
